CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA - The 15th-ranked women's tennis team bounced back in a big way from their Friday defeat with an emphatic, 4-0 victory over No. 23 Mississippi in the consolation round of the ITA Team National Indoor Championships at the Boar's Head Club in Charlottesville, VA. Keri Wong and Beatrice Gumulya pulled a big upset at one doubles, and helped Clemson claimed the doubles point to improve to 7-1 on the season.

"The momentum from doubles really carried over into singles, and I thought that really took the wind out of the sails of Mississippi," said head Coach Nancy Harris. "They are obviously a very good team, played Duke very close yesterday, but that really affected them today. Every team here is good, so I told our team you have to earn wins here; that is exactly what we did today."

The Tigers will take on No. 14 Texas on Sunday in their final match of the tournament before heading outside, weather pending, for the remainder of the season.

Gumulya and Wong scored the biggest upset of the year for a Clemson doubles group in just their fifth match together, as they topped the nation's 4th-ranked doubles team of Kristi Boxx and Abby Guthrie, 8-3, to give Clemson the edge in the doubles.

The Rebels tallied the next decision with an 8-5 win over Ciolkowski and Kölzer at flight two, 8-5, leaving the decision down to Klara Vyskocilova and Monika Kochanova at three. They fought off a deficit to come back for a 9-7 victory, giving Clemson the doubles point for the sixth time this season, in which the Tigers now own a 6-0 ledger. The duo improved to 12-2 as a team this year and improved Vyskocilova to 18-3 on the year and Kochanova to 15-4.

Clemson carried momentum out of the gates into singles, claiming the first set in each of the six singles matches against a team that took No. 3 Duke to a 4-3 decision on Friday, claiming three singles matches.

The first to nail down a point for Clemson was Keri Wong, who dispatched 54th-ranked Carolina Rohde-Moe, 6-2, 6-1 at two singles. The senior is now 14-4 overall and 10-0 in 2012.

Freshman Romy Kölzer, also an undefeated 9-0 on the season, won 6-4, 6-3 against Abby Guthrie in straight sets, 6-4, 6-3. A day prior, Guthrie had knocked off the 66th-ranked player in the country in straight sets.

Klara Vyskocilova closed out the scoring and clinched the match with a 6-2, 6-3 win at flight three over Erin Stephens to improve to 13-4 overall.

Meanwhile, Nelly Ciolkowski, Monika Kochanova, and Beatrice Gumulya had all taken the first set in their singles matches. The highlight was Gumulya, who won a first-set tiebreaker, 7-6 (6), against Boxx, the nation's 14th ranked singles player.
