CLEMSON, SC - The Clemson women's basketball team will make its first trip to the capital city of Massachusetts this weekend as the Lady Tigers (9-10, 1-3 ACC) will take on the Boston College Eagles (10-8, 0-4 ACC) on Sunday afternoon. The teams are scheduled to begin play at 2:00 pm at the Conte Forum. Fans will be able to follow the action on the Clemson Tiger Sports Network with Don Munson calling the play-by-play and Kanetra Queen providing the color commentary. The game will also be available on livestats via the Clemson Athletics homepage at www.clemsontigers.com.
D'Lesha Lloyd leads the Lady Tigers with a 15.5 scoring average, a statistic that also ranks sixth in the conference. The native of Coumbia, SC is currently riding a 15-game double-figure scoring streak, the longest since Chrissy Floyd scored at least 10 points in 19 straight games during the 2002-03 season. Lloyd also owns a team-best 7.2 rebounds per game average that ranks in the top 10 among ACC players.
Junior Tasha Taylor is averaging in double figures as well with a 12.5 point per game mark, while freshman Lele Hardy's 10.9 scoring average ranks third on the team. Hardy leads the league with a 3.53 steals per game average, and she ranked sixth in the nation for the statistic through Jan. 14 games.
Scouting the Eagles
Boston College enters Sunday's game with a 10-8 overall record, but
the Eagles are winless in conference action at 0-4 so far this season.
Point guard Sarah Marshall leads the league with a 6.0 assists per game average, while Kathrin Ress' 17.9 scoring average leads the team and ranks third in the ACC. Ress also boasts an Eagle high 8.9 rebounds per game. Elisabeth Egnell is second on the team for both scoring and rebounding with respective 9.7 and 6.6 figures.
Overall, Boston College is averaging 62.6 points per game while holding its opposition to just 56.9 per game. The Eagles are out-rebounding their opponents by a 7.8 margin, while also making 44.8% of their field goals.
Veterans vs. Boston College
With Sunday's match-up just the third meeting in history between
Clemson and Boston College, only five of the current corpse of
returning Lady Tigers has seen action against the Eagles. Therefore,
the entire team is making its first trip to Boston, the site of the
2006 NCAA Final Four, for competition.
Adrianne Bradshaw - had three points and two rebounds in 11
minutes of play.
Moreemi Davis - did not play last season.
D'Lesha Lloyd - was held scoreless with two rebounds.
Tasha Taylor - totaled four points, four rebounds and four
assists with two steals.
Carrie Whitehurst - hit her lone three-point attempt last
season for three points and two rebounds.
Susan Yenser - played just 11 minutes with one rebound last season.
