Todd Matthews is entering his first year as an undergraduate assistant coach with the Clemson men’s track and field team. He will be responsible for working with the Tiger hurdlers.

The 2002 NCAA runner-up in the 110m hurdles in Baton Rouge, LA, Matthews ended his collegiate career with a then-personal best time of 13.53 en route to the his fifth All-America honor. He ranks third on Clemson’s all-time list in the 110m hurdles and is also third on the 60m hurdles all-time list.

As a senior, Matthews also earned indoor All-America honors with a fourth-place finish in the 60m hurdles. He was All-ACC indoor and outdoor in 2002. In 2001, Matthews earned All-America accolades in the 60m hurdles indoor and 110m hurdles outdoor. Matthews was an All-American in the 110m hurdles after claiming the event title at the ACC Outdoor Championships. As a freshman, he earned All-ACC honors in the 110m hurdles and qualified for the NCAA Outdoor Championships in that event.

While at Notre Dame High School, Matthews won the national championship in the pentathlon in 1997, earning high school All-America honors for the first time. He was the 1998 outdoor New Jersey state champion in the 110m hurdles, and was tabbed the Most Valuable Performer of the indoor and outdoor state championships. Also in 1998, he was an outdoor Junior National Champion in the 110m hurdles with a time of 13.75.
