Senior Charles Warren recorded birdies on the final three holes of his round to help the Clemson golf team post a 10-under-par score of 278 for the second straight day at the NCAA Golf Championships being held at the University of New Mexico Championship Course in Albuquerque, NM.

After firing a third round 67, Warren heads into the final day of competition tied for first with James McLean, a freshman from the University of Minnesota. McLean finished the day with a 65.

As a team Clemson is second behind UNLV. The Rebels lead the Tigers by 10 strokes and stand at 35-under-par after three days of competition. Clemson is at 25-under-par, while Oklahoma State is in third place at 22-under-par.

Warren, the 1997 NCAA Individual Champion, led a group of Clemson golfers that all finished the day with rounds under par. Among Warren's final three birdies was one that came on a 240-yard par three into the wind. The Columbia, SC native sunk a 25-foot putt to record a birdie on the hole.

Senior Joey Maxon stands alone in 16th place after firing a round of 70 today. He is six-under-par (210) after three rounds.

Freshman John Engler is tied for 36th place with a three-day total of 214 (-2). The Augusta, GA native finished the day with a 71.

Jonathan Byrd, a sophomore, is one-under-par after recording a 70 today. His three-day figure is 215 and makes him tied for 43rd.

Clemson's other freshman Lucas Glover finished today's round with a 71. He is one-over-par for the tournament and stands tied for 55th place.

The tournament's fourth and final round will be played on Saturday.
