Clemson Golfers Finish Second in Hawaii

KAMUELA, HI--With five of the top 20 individual finishers in the field, the Clemson men's golf team finished in second place out of 13 teams at the Mauna Kea Invitational at Hapuna Golf Club in Kamuela, Hawaii over the weekend. The competition completed Clemson's Fall golf season.

The Tigers had a team score of 861, just four strokes off the winning pace set by East Tennessee State. Clemson finished ahead of ACC rivals North Carolina (868), NC State (873) and Virginia (898).

Tim Clark of NC State was the individual winner with a 207 score. Clemson's top finisher was Charles Warren, who tied for fourth with a 212 tournament. Warren had rounds of 67-70-75.

Jonathan Byrd finished in a tie for sixth with a 215 score, one under par, while Joey Maxon was eighth at aan even par 216. Freshman John Engler was 15th with a 218 and Lucas Glover was 20th at 223.

Clemson had rounds of 274-287 and 300 for the 54-hole event. It was Clemson's first ever golf competition in the state of Hawaii.
