Overview: Winner of the Highest GPA Award among seniors on the 2004 team; he red-shirted a season and is in his fifth year at Clemson...started the 2004 season as Clemson's starting placekicker; he served that duty for the first three games...has played in 16 games overall, including 13 in 2002 and three in 2004...lettered in 2002 and 2004, but not 2003...lettered as the player who handled kickoffs in 2002; he did so in all 13 games...successfully executed an onside kick at Florida State, the first successful onside kick for the Tigers since 1979...one of the few civil engineering majors on the team; he has consistently been on the Dean's List...also has experience punting, which he has done in practice...made the ACC Academic Honor Roll in each of the last three years; only active letterman who can make that statement.

2004: Clemson's starting kicker the first three games; he was 3-5 on field goals...had two important field goals in the overtime victory against Wake Forest; had a 42-yarder in regulation, his career-long boot, and a 23-yarder in the first overtime to keep the game going; was 3-3 on extra points in that game and finished with nine points...had six points the next week against Georgia Tech, including a 37-yard field goal and 3-3 on extra points.

2003: Came to practice every day and dressed for every game, but did not appear in a game.

2002: Handled kickoff duties in all 13 games in his first year...had eight touchbacks in 57 kickoffs, while only booting one kick out of bounds the entire year...contributed to kick coverage with four tackles...his ESPN Highlight play took place at Florida State when he successfully executed an on-side kick that led to a Clemson score...that was the first successful on-side kick by Clemson in 23 years (dating to 1979 Peach Bowl against Baylor).

2001: Red-shirted as a walk-on.

Before Clemson: Earned honorable mention all-county honors after playing just one year of high school football...as a senior, he made three of five field goals with a long of 47...punted 39 times, and had a gross average of 41.4 yards...in addition to his letter in football, he also lettered three times in soccer...all-state soccer selection his senior year...played his high school football for Bill Castle...born Stephen B. Furr on July 8, 1982...majoring in civil engineering.
