With the possible exception of Tree Rollins, Vince Yockel could be considered "Mr. Clemson Basketball." Yockel, originally from Jersey City, NJ, was a first-team and second-team All-ACC selection as he led the team in scoring from the 1955-56 season to the 1957-58 season. He averaged 18.2 points per game for his career, which is still third in school history. His sophomore year, he led the team in field goal percentage, and his senior year he led the team in free throw percentage.

Yockel was inducted into the Clemson Hall of Fame in 1982.
