Overview: Top returning scorer for the 2003-04 Tigers after scoring 11.5 points per game as a sophomore…started all but one game a year ago with All-ACC guard Edward Scott, giving Clemson one of the best backcourts in the ACC…showed significant improvement from his freshman year, he increased his scoring average from 5.3 points per game to 11.5 per game…that +6.2 scoring average jump was fifth best in the ACC in 2002-03 and best on the Clemson team…also improved his rebounding by over 100 percent, improved his free throw shooting from 61 percent to 69 percent, doubled his assists and improved his overall field goal percentage and three-point percentage…won the Lynch Award as the team’s most improved player in 2002-03…has played 58 consecutive games in his first two years and has 29 starts, only Chris Hobbs has more among returning players… capable of scoring in bursts, has had top two in-game scoring bursts by a Clemson player each of the last two years…had streak of 12 straight points at Wake Forest as a sophomore and 13 straight at Duke as a freshman…highly recruited player who is brother of former Clemson player Tony Christie, who earned his degree from Clemson in 2002 and is now playing in Europe…Tony played on four Clemson post-season teams, including three NCAA teams under Rick Barnes…Chey has ability to slash to the hoop and score… played in Global Games for the United States team in summer of 2001 prior to coming to Clemson…mature player who has lived in different areas around the United States and around the world, as his father was a chief master sergeant in the Air Force… played high school basketball in Connecticut, Nevada and Mississippi…came to Clemson from Biloxi, MS…family now lives in South Carolina and attends all the Clemson games...has outstanding athletic ability, especially when it comes to speed and jumping ability… has a 34 1/2” vertical jump, best on the team.

Top Games of 2002-03: Had a career high 25 points in Feb. 5 win over Georgia Tech…connected on career-high nine field goals in 15 attempts, he also made 3-6 three-point goals...it was his second career 20-point scoring game, he had 21 at Duke as a freshman...also had five rebounds and three steals in fine all-around effort in the win over Tech...finished season with five double figure scoring games in his last seven outings...had 18 points at Wake Forest, he scored 12 consecutive Clemson points in just three minutes, the longest streak of consecutive points by a Clemson player in 2002-03...a key to the win at Virginia with 16 points, he had 14 in the first half... hit 7-14 shots from the field and also had five rebounds, he combined with Edward Scott to score 48 of Clemson’s 73 points in that road win...had just one turnover in 37 minutes in that game…had 12 points in Feb. 22 win over Florida State, he made 5-9 shots from the field... leading scorer at Duke with 17 point….he made 17-30 shots from the field in three-game stretch Feb. 1-9...had 19 points in New Year’s Eve victory over Coastal Carolina, his second highest scoring game of the year…that performance gave him a 12.8 scoring average for the first nine games of the year, the highest the average was all year...Clemson’s leading scorer in victory over Virginia at Clemson with 16, he made 7-11 field goals, including three field goals inside the last five minutes... scored 12 points and had career high five rebounds in Clemson victory over Cincinnati in December... scored in double figures in eight straight games between November 27 and December 31, longest streak of his career…. had 15 points and career high eight assists in win over Winthrop...that was three more assists than he had ever recorded in a previous game... likes to slash his way to the hoop and score even though he is just 6-4 and less than 180 pounds....showed his scoring ability in exhibition win over EA Sports when he had 24 points and 11-15 shooting....had 15-point game against Penn State, he made 6-11 shots from the field and 2-2 from the line.

In 2001-02: Started his first-year freshman year strong and finished strong, an ankle injury limited his success in the middle...hit 23-46 from the field and scored 81 points over the first 10 games of the season...he was averaging near double figures entering the games at Christmas break…scored 59 points and had 11 assists over the last 10 games of the season...scored just 19 points in the middle 10 games when the ankle gave him problems…he was slowed by the injury, but still found a way to play in every game...made just 6 of 28 from the field during that middle 10 game stretch when he was injured…four of his five highest scoring games came on the road... shot 48.3 percent on opponent’s home courts...made 39 percent of three-point shots on the road…averaged 7.8 points per game on the road and 4.3 at home... had 14 assists in the last 10 games after getting just two in the previous eight games…played well in four games against Duke and North Carolina, he had 40 points in four games against those two schools, he was 8-13 from the field against each team.

Top Games of 2001-02: Had his best game of the year at Duke on December 2 when he scored 21 points on 7-8 shooting against the nation’s top team... scored 13 straight points at one juncture in the game in Durham on Dec. 2...named ACC Rookie of the Week after that performance…big contributor in win at Penn State with 16 points, he was 5-8 from the field…also hit 3-3 three-point shots in the contest... had a third double figure scoring game within the first seven games of the year against Wofford with 13 points on 5-9 shooting…also had strong game at Virginia when he had 14 points in 26 minutes...shot 6-12 from the field, had three steals and made a pair of three-point goals... that was his first double figure scoring game since Dec. 2 ...had 11-point performance at North Carolina on Feb. 27 when he made 5-8 shots from the field... had six points against North Carolina in Clemson in nine minutes on 3-5 shooting.

At 2001 Global Games: Earned considerable experience for the United States team in the Global Games in July 2001…led the US team in three-point shooting by hitting 11-18 from long range in the five games played …averaged 15 points per outing and made 29-49 shots from the field, 59.2 percent…also had 12 rebounds and five assists against just three turnovers…had a high of 23 points against Puerto Rico, he made 9-12 shots from the field, including 5-5 three-point shots…his three-point goal in the final seconds sent the game into overtime…led the team in scoring in three different games.
