BEFORE CLEMSON: Played his freshman season (1999) at Richmond under Head Coach Ron Atkins...pitched in just one game and one inning for the Spiders...was an American Legion All-Star...at Lafayette High School, he was league MVP, and led the league in strikeouts, innings pitched, and complete games as a senior...set school single-season record for strikeouts (62) and had a 2.33 ERA in 42.0 innings as a senior...lettered in football, baseball, swimming, and water polo at Lafayette High...member of two swimming state championships and three conference championships...all-state in swimming...coached by Rusty Ryan at Lafayette High.
