Sophomore righthander who was the team's top freshman pitcher in 2011...has been used in long relief and as a weekday starter...will compete for innings as a starter and reliever in 2012.

2011: Second-team freshman All-American by NCBWA...All-ACC Academic team member...had a 5-2 record and 1.93 ERA in 17 appearances (three starts)...in 32.2 innings pitched, he allowed 37 hits (.282 opponents' batting average), no homers, and 10 walks with 17 strikeouts...led the team in ERA...in 11.2 innings pitched over eight relief appearances in ACC regular-season games, he was 1-0 with a 2.31 ERA...had a .190 opponents' batting average with runners in scoring position...pitched 3.2 innings in relief in his first career outing, allowing one run and no walks against Eastern Michigan on Feb. 19...pitched 2.2 innings in relief, allowing three hits and no runs to earn his first career win against Wofford on Mar. 2...pitched 3.0 innings in relief, allowing four hits, one run, and no walks with two strikeouts to earn the win against Duke on Mar. 19...pitched a scoreless seventh inning in relief, allowing one hit with two strikeouts at N.C. State on Mar. 25...retired the only batter he faced in the sixth inning to earn the win against Georgia on Mar. 29...pitched 2.2 innings in relief, allowing one hit and no earned runs with one strikeout at #6 North Carolina on Apr. 1...pitched a hitless and scoreless sixth inning at #6 North Carolina on Apr. 3; he allowed just one hit and no earned runs in 3.2 innings pitched in the series...pitched 2.0 innings in relief, allowing two hits and no runs with one strikeout at Boston College on Apr. 15...pitched a scoreless eighth inning with two strikeouts in the second game of a doubleheader against Gardner-Webb on May 7...pitched 5.0 innings in his first career start, allowing three hits, no runs, and one walk with two strikeouts to earn the win against East Tennessee State on May 11...pitched 5.0 innings in a starting role, allowing six hits, no runs, and one walk with four strikeouts to earn the win against Davidson on May 17...pitched 2.0 innings in relief, allowing one hit and no runs with a strikeout against Sacred Heart in the Clemson Regional on June 3.

Before Clemson: All-conference selection as a senior at Parkway South Senior High School...#2 righthander prospect in Missouri, #6 overall prospect in Missouri, and #333 overall prospect in the nation by Perfect Game...member of the USA Tournament of Stars...all-metro selection as a junior...all-district pick in basketball as a senior...lettered three times in baseball and three times in basketball at Parkway South Senior High, where he was coached by Adam Stahl.
