Introduction
We
are glad to hear your
interest
in Clemson Co-ed Cheerleading.
Clemson Co-ed team is
a nationally
prominent team whose
primary
goal is to enhance spirit
at
Clemson’s
Athletic events while maintaining
a commitment to national athletic
excellence. My name is Dipali
Patel. I will be coaching
Co-ed team for the upcoming
football season. The
Co-ed team, also refer to
as the Orange squad’s
primary job is to cheer
all home and away football
games. However, if you are
interested in cheering for
both football and basketball
seasons, you have an option
to cheer Co-ed and then
switch over to All-Girl during
the basketball season. If
you choose to do this, your
obligations as a Co-ed cheerleader
will be completed at the
last football event and the
All-Girl team will become
the top priority. You are
NOT ALLOWED to tryout for
both the Orange and the White
squad in the spring due to
camp purposes. We
are looking for 28 talented
stunters and tumblers.
Expectations
You
must have a letter of acceptance
into Clemson University or
be a current student. We recommend
you process your application
as soon as possible. Our practices
will be held on Tuesday and
Thursdays from 8-10 P.M. and
optional practices on Sunday
evenings. Please
be aware of these times when
you are registering for your
classes next year. There will
be a required workout, twice
a week in the morning for
every participant throughout
the football season. Clemson
University and I will expect
every male and female to maintain
good grades in classrooms. You
must excel and stay on top
of your academics. If
you are not able to show
responsibility in classrooms,
then that reflects how well
you will follow the rules
and regulations of this team.
Skill
Positions
Females: A female stunter will have
a small tumbling requirement
buy your emphasis will be in
the stunting area. You
must acquire the necessary
flying skills that will benefit
the program. As a female tumbler,
you will have a small stunting
requirement.
Males: A male stunter will have a small tumbling requirement with your emphasis on elite stunting. A male tumbler will have some stunting requirements, but your emphasis will remain in the tumbling category. A tumbler will be expected to throw baskes and base pyramids.
Overall, Clemson University and I are very excited about the Co-ed Cheerleading squad! Good luck to ALL who are trying out! Be on a look out around campus for flyers and time as we get closer to the week of tryouts! If you have any questions or comments, please contact me at dipali@clemson.edu or at 864-986-9234.
