CLEMSON, SC - Clemson freshman Cody Proveaux shot a two-under-par 70 on Monday at the Puerto Rico Classic, but he was the only Tigers golfer to score under par. The Tigers had a six over par 294 team score and dropped from third place to sixth after the second round of the 15-team tournament at Rio Mar Country club in Rio Grande, Puerto Rico.

Clemson shot a six over par score on Monday after a seven under par 281 in the first round on Sunday had left the Tigers just two shots out of the lead. Now they trail tournament leaders Oklahoma and Alabama by 18 shots heading into Tuesday's final round. This is the opening spring tournament for the 19th ranked Clemson team.

Proveaux had three birdies and one bogey in carding his round of two under par 70. He had an opening round 73 and stands in 19th place individually.

Clemson's top golfer for the tournament so far is senior Crawford Reeves, who had an even par 72 on Monday and he stands in ninth place 36 holes into the event with a three-under-par score of 141. He was under par most of the day until he made a bogey on his final hole, the first hole on the course.

Billy Kennerly, the tournament leader after the first round when he shot a 67, slumped to a 77 in the second round and he stands in 22nd place with a 144 total. He double bogeyed his second and third holes of the day to set his round in the wrong direction.

Stephen Behr, Clemson's top golfer on the season entering the Puerto Rico Classic, had a 76 on Monday that included a 41 on the back nine. He has a 148 total after two rounds and stands in 42nd place. Thomas Bradshaw also had a 76 on Tuesday and is at 150 after two rounds.

As stated above, Alabama and Oklahoma are tied for first at 19-under par after two rounds. SMU, who shot a 10 under par 278 on Monday, is third at 11 under for the tournament. Georgia is fourth at six under, followed by Georgia Tech at five under, four shots better than the Tigers.
