CLEMSON, S.C. – The location and dates for the Clemson women’s basketball team’s tournament originally scheduled for Nov. 24 & 25 in San Juan, Puerto Rico, have been changed due to severe infrastructure damage in Puerto Rico caused by Hurricane Maria. The tournament will now be played at the Ocean Center in Daytona Beach, Fla. on Nov. 23 & 24. Sport Tours International made the announcement on Wednesday.
The Tigers’ opponents remain the same for the two tournament contests. Clemson faces Detroit Mercy on Thursday, Nov. 23 at 6:30 p.m. and Buffalo on Friday, Nov. 24 at 6:30 p.m. at the Ocean Center.
“After listening to our employees and partners at Mario Morales Coliseum, Charter Coach and the Intercontinental Hotel, we have decided to move the San Juan Shootout to the Ocean Center in Daytona Beach, Florida,” said Sport Tours President Lee Frederick. “They are not confident that our event can be run in November at the high level we all expect.”
