Men's Basketball Holds Year-End Banquet on Thursday

CLEMSON, S.C. — Clemson University men’s basketball held its annual year-end banquet on Thursday evening in the Burton Gallery of Littlejohn Coliseum. The players, staff, families and supporters gathered for a night of fellowship and honoring of season performances and memories of such a special season in Clemson history.

The Tigers, who finished the season at 25-10 overall, had much to celebrate on Thursday following just the program’s third official appearance in the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament.

Clemson play-by-play voice Don Munson emceed the evening with many speakers taking the podium to present season-end awards. 

AWARDS CEREMONY

Andy Balliet “Spirit of Clemson” Award (presented by Roberta Balliet and Lucas McKay)
Tim Bourret, Clemson Tigers Radio Network analyst 

“Academic Excellence” Award (presented by academic advisor Leslie Moreland)
Lyles Davis, junior guard 

“Tiger Strength” Award (presented by strength coach Mike Bewley)
Gabe DeVoe, senior guard

Tom Lynch “Most Improved” Award (presented by assistant coach Antonio Reynolds Dean)
Elijah Thomas, junior forward 

Paul Bowie “Most Valuable Player” (presented by assistant coach Steve Smith)
Marcquise Reed, redshirt junior guard
Gabe DeVoe, senior guard

The last award of the night went to someone who completely and totally lives and shows the meaning of Tiger Pride. After his name was announced, Donte Grantham received a standing ovation.

In between dinner and award presentations, everyone was glued to the video boards in the Burton Gallery as there was an airing of a season highlight video, NCAA highlight video and then a senior specific highlight video.

Head coach Brad Brownell provided the closing remarks on the evening and left it with a perfect ending.

“Championship teams are driven by the team.” 

The 2018-19 season is upon us.
