CLEMSON, S.C. – The Clemson men’s tennis team fell to Louisville on Senior Day, 7-0. The Tigers fall to 8-14 (1-9 ACC), while the Cardinals improve to 19-5 (6-3 ACC) which is a five-match improvement from last year in league play.
In doubles play the Cardinals came out with a lot of energy and quickly took court one, 6-0. On courts two and three the Tigers battled back to tie each match 5-5. On court three junior Alex Favrot and senior Robert Dudley won 7-5 to force the deciding point to court two where the Cardinals came out on top in a tiebreak, 7-6(4).
Louisville jumped out to a 2-0 lead with a straight set victory on court one. The Cardinals then widened their advantage to 3-0 with a straight set victory on court four. The Cards went on to clinch the match on court six to improve to 6-3 in ACC play. Louisville completed the sweep with two three-set victories on courts two and three.
Clemson returns to the courts on Friday, April 21 at Notre Dame at 3:30 p.m. and Sunday, April 23 at Boston College for the final two matches of the season. The ACC Tournament is set to begin on April 26 in Rome, Ga.
