Clemson, S.C.—Clemson All-ACC golfer Alice Hewson has been named to the Great Britain and Ireland team that will compete in the Vagliano Trophy Match later this summer. It is the second time Hewson has been selected for this team. Hewson is one of four English players on the team of eighth that will face the Continent of Europe.
Hewson, Gemma Clews, and Sophie Lamb will be joined by the Irish players Maria Dunne, Leona Maguire, Olivia Mehaffey and Annabel Wilson.
The match will be played at Golf Club Bogogno in Italy June 30 and July 1. It is the second consecutive summer that Hewson will play in a prominent international match. Last summer she was a member of the winning GB&I Curtis Cup team that defeated the USA.
Hewson has been named first-team All-ACC as a freshman and sophomore, the first Clemson women's golfer to achieve that distinction. She helped Clemson to its first NCAA National Tournament bid with a team best 71.82 stroke average that is on pace to be the best in Clemson history. She has a record tying six top 10 finishes and a team best 12 under-par rounds.
