#41 Brad Chalk

Brad Chalk is in his first season on the Tiger coaching staff in 2013, serving as a student assistant coach.  His duties include assisting with the outfielders along with baserunning and bunting.  Chalk was a standout centerfielder on three Clemson teams (2005-07) before playing five seasons in the minor leagues.

As a Tiger, Chalk had a .356 batting average, 139 runs, 213 hits, 26 doubles, six triples, 49 RBIs, a .469 on-base percentage, and 32 stolen bases in 177 games (167 starts).  He also had 107 walks and 23 hit-by-pitches against only 56 strikeouts in his career.  Chalk, who was a member of three NCAA Tourney teams, had a school-record 40 career sacrifice bunts as well.

In 2005, he hit a team-high .350 to earn freshman All-America honors by Collegiate Baseball.  Then in 2006, he batted .353 with 18 steals on Clemson's College World Series team that finished ranked #5 in the nation in the polls.  Chalk received the team's Tiger Baseball Award four outstanding leadership and amassed a school-record 21 sacrifice bunts, second-most in the nation.

As a junior in 2007, Chalk hit a team-best .366 to earn Second-Team All-ACC honors.  He was selected in the second round of the Major League draft by the San Diego Padres.

In five seasons in the minor leagues, Chalk had a .268 batting average, 450 hits, 185 RBIs, 221 runs, and 64 stolen bases in 483 games.  He reached as high as AAA in 2010 with the Portland (OR) Beavers of the Padres organization.

The 27-year-old Chalk, a three-time member of the ACC Academic Honor Roll during his time as a player, is a senior who is majoring in sport management.  He was born January 20, 1986 in Spartanburg, SC.
