Whitney Fountain is in her first season as a volunteer assistant with Clemson track & field. She works directly with coach Marvin Gibson in the short sprints. Fountain was a highly decorated athlete for the women’s track & field program at Clemson from 2011-15.
Fountain collected numerous honors spanning her career as a Tiger. She was a second-team All-American in three different events, the 4x100, 4x400 and long jump.
Fountain’s versatility was her greatest strength as a student-athlete. She not only won the 2013 ACC Championship in the heptathlon, but also earned all-conference acclaim in the 60, long jump, triple jump and pentathlon. At the time her eligibility expired, Fountain ranked among the top 10 in Clemson history in six different events, the 60, high jump, long jump, triple jump, pentathlon and heptathlon.
During her stint as a Tiger, she was a member of several successful teams. The Clemson women won ACC Indoor and Outdoor Championships with Fountain on board in 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2015.
Prior to her tenure at Clemson, Fountain was a highly decorated prep athlete at Christopher Columbus High School in Bronx, N.Y. She was the 2010 USA Junior bronze medalist in the heptathlon and was the silver medalist in both the 55 and 200 at the National Scholastic Indoor Championships.Fountain graduated from Clemson with a degree in sociology in December 2014, and was a three-time member of the ACC Academic Honor Roll. She is currently enrolled in Clemson’s youth development leadership master’s degree program.
