CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Junior James Quattlebaum passed six runners in the last 2,000 meters of the NCAA Southeast Regional Cross Country meet at Panorama Farms to grab a 15th-place finish for the Clemson men’s cross country team Friday. The Greenville, S.C., native’s time out 29:35.2 on the men’s 10K course earned him All-Southeast Regional honors in route to guiding the Tigers to an overall 13th-place finish.

Sophomore Andrew Emery was the second Tiger to cross the finish line on the men’s side, placing 45th overall with a time of 30:30.5. Like Quattlebaum, Emery made a late push in the last 2,000 meters of the race, jumping nine spots. Jacob Slann (31:18.3), Ryan Mullen (31:49.3) and Jackson Goodwin (32:01.0) closed out the final three spots for the Tigers.

The women were led for the second straight meet by fifth-year senior Marketa Marcanikova, who finished the women’s 6K course in 22:41.8, which was good for 116th out of 257 competitors. Junior Anna Johnson followed right behind Marcanikova with a time of 22:53.3 to place 132nd. Katie Fortner (23:08.3), Morgan Wittrock (2 23:13.1) and Erin McLaughlin (23:17.3) rounded out the field on the women’s side. Clemson finished 24th overall as a unit on the 6K course.

Up next, the Tigers will open the 2017-18 indoor track & field season on Dec. 9 with the Clemson Opener.
