Kat Owens is in her second season as Coordinator of Recruiting for the Clemson women’s basketball program. In that role, she manages the program’s recruiting budget, coordinates communication with recruits using multiple methods, and plans and creates a unique experience for prospective student-athletes on official and unofficial visits to Clemson.
Prior to arriving in Tigertown, Owens spent one season as Director of Operations at Memphis, where she was directly responsible to the head coach for all team-related administrative tasks. She also maintained the program’s budget, coordinated all team travel and meals, served as a liaison to the facilities and marketing departments, facilitated the team’s community service activities and was the director and primary organizer of the program’s summer camps.
Owens also has experience on the sidelines, serving as the first assistant and recruiting coordinator at Presbyterian College from 2013-15, and as an assistant coach at Faulkner University in Alabama from 2010-13. In her final season at Faulkner, she helped the Lady Eagles to the program’s first NAIA National Tournament appearance and win.
A native of Fort Worth, Texas, Owens played for Abilene Christian University from 2007-10. She was a two-time All-Lone Star Conference honorable mention selection and a two-time LSC All-Academic Team honoree at ACU. She also set a number of the school’s assist records during her tenure, including career assists (584) and career assists per game (5.1). She helped the Wildcats to four-straight winning seasons, as well as an NCAA Division II regional appearance in 2009.
Owens graduated from Abilene Christian University with a degree in psychology in 2010, and earned a master’s degree in sports administration from Liberty University in 2014.
