CLEMSON, S.C. - Over 50 members of the Clemson track & field program made the six and a half hour trip south to Gainesville for the Florida Relays on Thursday. The Tigers take part in the annual meet that attracts some of the top teams and athletes from the entire country on Friday and Saturday.

In addition to a number of individual entries, the Clemson women have five relays slated to compete and the men's team has three. Both 4x100 relays are scheduled for action, as is the women's 4x400 group.

Clemson's track standouts through two outdoor meets have been Tevin Hester and Reggie Lewis from the men's squad, and Whitney Fountain and Marlena Wesh on the women's side. All are scheduled to be in action in sprint races Friday at Percy Beard Track. Wesh is slated to open in the 400 dash, her signature event, this weekend. Hester and Lewis are coming off top-three performances at the prestigious Texas Relays last weekend.

In the field, several quality athletes are in action both days. Jameel Abdul-Mateen looks to get back on track in the long jump Friday. Marcsu Brown and Torian Ware have been two of the most consistent men's team performers this season, and both are competing Saturday. Brown posted the school's fourth-best discus mark in history at the Raleigh Relays last weekend. Ware has jumped over seven feet in both of his outdoor appearances.

Saturday's afternoon session consists entirely of relays. The men's 4x1 opened last week with a 10th-place effort in Texas, while the women have a win and eighth-place showing under their belts. The women's 4x4 wraps up the action approximately 6:40 p.m. Saturday.
