CLEMSON, S.C. - The Tigers finished first in two of three races against Eastern Michigan, Syracuse and Boston University on Saturday on Lake Hartwell. Clemson has now won five of six races over two regattas this season.
The regatta got off to an exciting start with a battle in the opening race between the Clemson and Syracuse First Varsity 8s. The two were within just a few seconds of one another for the entire race. In the end, Clemson's 1V8 was able to create just enough space between the two to take the victory by just over two seconds.
In the Varsity 4s race, the Tigers jumped out to an early lead over Syracuse. The Orange came back to take a short lead and was able to hold off Clemson at the end. The Tigers' 1V4 finished just four seconds behind the Syracuse 1V4.
The final race of the day with the Third and Fourth Varsity 8s saw Clemson and Syracuse battle it out again. The Tigers were able to take the lead around the 1,000-meter mark and never look back.
Clemson will return to action next Saturday, Mar. 22, when they host Buffalo, Duke, Iowa, Kansas and Purdue on Lake Hartwell at 9:00 a.m.
