Diving Prepares for Mid-Week Meets with UNC Wilmington and South Carolina
CLEMSON, SC - The Clemson women's diving team will compete in Greensboro, NC against UNC Wilmington on Tuesday at 9:00 AM and rival South Carolina on Wednesday at 1:30 PM. The two meets will be last of the 2013 calendar year for the Tigers.
The Tigers will take on both UNC Wilmington and South Carolina for the first time as a diving only program. Clemson competed against South Carolina for the final time in women's swimming and diving in 2011. The Tigers last win over the Gamecocks on the women's side came in 2009 with Clemson taking the meet 155-145.
Senior Emily Howard leads the Tigers with the top two scores in the one-meter this season and the second-best score in the three-meter. Chelsea Uranaka leads the team with the highest three-meter score this season, which also ranks as the highest three-meter score at an invitational in school history. Both Howard and Uranaka have qualified for NCAA Zones in the three-meter event while Howard has also earned a bid in the one-meter.
Megan Helwagen and Juliana Melchionda also have top-five scores this season. Jessica Resler recorded the highest platform score of the year, a school-record 210.20, in the team's last meet at the Georgia Tech Invitational.
