Hello Tiger fans!

We are excited to welcome President Jim Clements, his wife Beth, and their four children to the Clemson family. His current athletic director at West Virginia, Oliver Luck, is on the College Football Playoff Committee with me, and he remarked that we were getting a great advocate for intercollegiate athletics. I look forward to working with President Clements in the near future.

Thanks to all of you who attended on Thursday to see the Tigers defeat Georgia Tech. You created a great atmosphere for our players, one that certainly was a factor in our 55-31 victory over the Yellow Jackets. I also want to thank you for respecting our campus by cleaning up after your tailgate, and leaving Clemson as beautiful as it was when you arrived.

In our team's future, a berth in the Bowl Championship Series could be within our sights. If that is the case, we know the Clemson faithful will do a tremendous job of invading either Miami or New Orleans in mass.

Last week, I had the privilege of attending the inaugural College Football Playoff meeting. The committee that was formed is a great group of people who have given of their time and expertise to put together the four best teams in college football. Again, I am honored to be a part of it and look forward to the work that is ahead of us. We will meet again in January, probably again in the spring and next August, before getting down to business in late October or early November of 2014. It comes as no surprise, but the strength and respect nationally for Clemson Athletics and the Clemson brand is significant. That speaks to the great work done prior to my arrival by Terry Don Phillips, Bobby Robinson and of course, the late Bill McLellan.

Congratulations to Mike Noonan and the men's soccer program for accepting a bid to the NCAA Tournament. It was a pleasure to be on hand against Duke when the program honored its four seniors, and again the following game when the Tigers beat North Carolina to advance to the semifinals of the ACC Tournament. His team came within a hair of advancing to the championship game, which speaks to the great direction we believe the program is headed.

I want to close by congratulating our basketball coaches. Brad Brownell's team was phenomenal Sunday, as the Tigers knocked off the rival Gamecocks 71-57 at Littlejohn Coliseum. We wish them luck this week in Charleston as they take part in an exciting tournament. We also want to congratulate our women's basketball coach Audra Smith on her first win with the Lady Tigers over Wofford.
