Clemson Finishes Play in Southern Intercollegiate Menís Tennis Tournament

ATHENS, GA - The Clemson men’s tennis team concluded play in the Southern Intercollegiate Men’s Tennis Tournament in Athens, GA Sunday.

Clemson’s Hunter Harrington advanced to the quarterfinal round of the First Division and lost to second-seeded Ben Wagland of Georgia 6-7, 7-6, 6-1.  Renato Lombardi of Barry defeated the Tigers’ freshman Fernando Sala Sanchez 6-3, 6-3 in the semifinals of the Third Division.

In doubles, East Tennessee’s David Biosca and Roger Ordeig defeated the Tigers’ double team of Harrington and Daniel Straw in the quarterfinal round 8-4.

The Southern Intercollegiate Men’s Tennis Tournament is an individual tournament with no teams scores being kept.

Clemson will play in the ITA All-American Tournament in Tulsa OK beginning on September 28, in the Tiger’s next action.
