OLYMPIA FIELDS, IL - Cody Proveaux had a final round 72 and a top 30 finish to lead Clemson in the Fighting Illini Invitational concluded on Sunday. The Tigers finished 13th in the 15-team tournament that included nine of the top 20 teams in the nation, including five of the top 10.

Clemson finished with a score of 898 on the par 70 Olympia Fields course near Chicago, IL, that has been the site of four professional majors, including a pair of US Opens. Alabama won the tournament with an 849 score, a dominant performance for the nation's number-one team that finished 18 shots ahead of second place Texas.

Florida State was the only other ACC team in the field and the Seminoles finished 10th.

The average score for the players for the 54 holes was four over par as the entire tournament was played in windy conditions.

Clemson had its best team score of the tournament on Sunday with a 10 over par 290 score, a total that was actually better than the 291 shot by Alabama on Sunday. The Tigers were led by Stephen Behr in the final round with a 71. Proveaux shot a 72, while freshman Carson Young had a 73. Classmate Austin Langdale had a 74 and Miller Capps finished with a 75.

Proveaux finished with a 221 total of the three rounds, good enough for 29th place. Stephen Behr was the second best Tiger with a 225 and he finished 47th. Behr played the par five holes in one under par for the week, best among the five Tigers in the tournament.

Capps and Langdale both shot 75 or better in each of the last two rounds. Capps finished with a 226 score and Langdale, who had a team best 35 pars for the 54-hole event, finished at 228.  Young, a freshman, showed improvement by at least five shots each day and finished at 236.
