From the Desk of Dan Radakovich
Hello Tiger fans!
We want to thank everyone for coming out to Saturday's game against South Carolina State. It was great to see a sellout crowd on hand for a second straight week. That is a huge separator as it relates to elevating a program to among the nation's elite.
The Georgia game showed Clemson at its finest. The work put in by our staff in every area was phenomenal. The exposure was tremendous for Clemson University, from the First Friday parade to College GameDay to the incredible amount of publicity we received during the ABC broadcast. The publicity was never greater than in this video (LINK) from the pregame. I urge you to view the link, because it was six minutes of primetime television as the nation saw one of Clemson's most unique traditions.
While there were many highlights from that day, my personal favorite was being able to present the Ring of Honor recognitions to Mrs. Sarah Jane Wilhelm and Coach Wilhelm's sons, and to Coach Ford and his wife, Deborah. Those are two giants in the history of Clemson Athletics. The presentation for Coach Ford inside Memorial Stadium elicited a roar I thought was only reserved for last-minute heroics on the field.
We had 83,000 fans in the stadium, but thousands more on campus for the Georgia game. The number of folks that were on campus enjoying Clemson has never been higher. We didn't set an attendance record only because the stadium has changed over the years. We appreciate everyone's patience after the game. We hope you had a good experience and apologize if you did not. We continue to work hard to ensure that your experience at Clemson is a positive one.
To that end, we would love to hear about your experiences from the games. Visit the following address (LINK) to supply thoughts related to the gameday experience that you wish to offer. While we cannot respond to every email that is received, please know they will all be read and your feedback will be greatly appreciated.
Congratulations are in order to our soccer and volleyball teams. Mike Noonan and the men's team is off to a 4-0 start, including a thrilling overtime win over South Carolina on Labor Day night and a win to start ACC play last Friday against No. 21 ranked Virginia. The improved women's team also earned its second win of the young season Sunday. Jolene Hoover's volleyball team won the Big Orange Bash by going undefeated in three matches, which also included a win over South Carolina in front of a packed Jervey Gym on Friday.
Believe it or not, basketball season is right around the corner. Season ticket applications have been mailed, and coaches Brad Brownell and Audra Smith need your support. We look forward to an improved season by both the men and women.
Finally, it was great to see J.T. Horton's women's golf team play its first competitive round as a program Sunday. Sloan Shanahan birdied the first hole of the Cougar Classic to kick it off in style! You can follow their progress, as well as all of our teams, on ClemsonTigers.com.
