TEAM NOTES
- With Friday's 71-51 win over Stetson, Clemson has now won 29 straight season openers.
- The Tigers improved to 7-0 all-time in the series against Stetson.
- Clemson made six of its nine attempts from three-point range in the first half, including three straight to open the game from K.J. McDaniels.
- The Tigers had a 17-0 run that spanned over seven minutes in the opening half of Friday's game. Clemson's 17 consecutive points matched the best scoring run by the 2012-13 team (31 games).
- Clemson held Stetson to just four points in the paint in the opening half of play and 15 overall. The 15 points were the lowest by a Tiger opponent since Jan. 15, 2013 when Wake Forest also scored just 15 in the first half of that ACC contest.
- Clemson shot 10-of-23 from three-point range in the opener. It was the most number of threes in an opener by the Tiger men's team since the 2009-10 squad made 14 against Presbyterian.
INDIVIDUAL NOTES
- K.J. McDaniels posted a career-high 20 points on Friday. His previous best was 17 points on two occasions last season, vs. UTEP and Virginia Tech.
- McDaniels scored Clemson's first 11 points of the game, all from long distance. It is believed to be the most to start a season by a Tiger player since Elden Campbell scored the first 10 for Cliff Ellis' 1987-88 team.
- McDaniels posted a career-high with eight field goals; his previous high was seven at Virginia Tech as a freshman in 2011-12.
- Jaron Blossomgame scored his first field goal as a Tiger in the opening half on a Jordan Roper assist. Blossomgame sat out the 2012-13 season due to recovery from a broken leg.
- Blossomgame finished with eight points and three rebounds in 18 minutes in his debut.
- Damarcus Harrison reached double figures in the opener with 10 points, his sixth double-figure effort in 32 career games as a Tiger.
- Rod Hall played 24 minutes without a turnover, and contributed 11 points - the fifth double-figure scoring effort of his career.
- Josh Smith logged a career-high 22 minutes and pulled down a career-best seven rebounds.
