Women's Golf Boasts Impressive Second Round

WILMINGTON, NC - The Clemson Women's Golf team posted a round of 288, three over par on the par 72 Pete Dye Course at the Country Club of Landfall on Saturday in the second round of the Landfall Tradition. The 13th ranked Tigers are in third place heading into the final round, trailing second-place Duke by 15 shots and current leader Alabama by 22 shots. South Carolina and Arizona round out the top 5.

Clemson was in 8th place heading into the day, after shooting 19 over par on Friday. Ashlan Ramsey, the number one amateur in the world according to Golfweek, rebounded from her two over par first round to shoot three under par on Saturday. She is tied for second place, with Yi Liu of Duke, heading into the final day. Stephanie Meadow of Alabama is in first place individually after posting rounds of 70 and 71. She made a hole in one on the par three 13th hole during her second round and leads by two shots over Ramsey and Liu.

Four of the five women in Clemson's lineup had a better second round than first. Sloan Shanahan posted a one over par 73 on Saturday, while Lauren Salazar shot a 74 and McKenzie Talbert shot a 75. Jessica Hoang posted a round of 81 for the second consecutive day. Taylor Ramsey, playing as an individual, shot a 13 over par 85.

On Sunday, Clemson will play with Alabama and Duke. It will be a shotgun start, beginning at 8:45 AM.

This is the final fall tournament for the Tigers, who are looking to finish in the top five in all four of their fall tournaments after two second place finishes and a fifth place finish through the first three tournaments of their inaugural season.
