CLEMSON, SC - Clemson has a six-shot lead as a team in the 18-team field and freshman Austin Langdale has a three-shot advantage in the chase for medalist honors after 36 holes of the 17th Annual Cleveland Golf Palmetto Intercollegiate at the par 70 Palmetto Country Club in Aiken, SC.

Clemson stands at 571 as a team, six shots ahead of ACC rival Virginia. South Carolina is in third place at 579, while Georgia State is fourth at 585. Clemson had team rounds of 281-290 for the 36 holes that were played in sunny, but windy conditions.

Langdale, a native of Pendleton, SC, is the only golfer under par for the first two rounds with his two-under-par score of 138. He has a three-shot lead over Derrick Bard of Virginia, Will Starke of South Carolina and Preston Heyward of Furman. Langdale had four birdies and three bogeys in each round.

"I didn't make any long putts, I just played consistently," said Langdale. "Most of my birdie putts were shot putts and twice I had two-putts on par fives for birdies. I had a good day ball striking." Langdale has a strong history at the Palmetto Country Club as he won the Southern Cross Amateur there two years ago.

Stephen Behr is also in the top 10 for Clemson as the sophomore had rounds of 71-74. He is in 10th place entering tomorrow's final round.

Cody Proveaux had back to back rounds of 73 and stands at 146 entering the final round, good enough for a tie for 20th place. Blake Kennedy, a sophomore playing in his first tournament of the year, had consecutive scores of 74 and is in 33rd place.

Miller Capps had the best round of the day among Clemson players with an opening round 68, but he had an 83 in the windy second round conditions. He stands at 151 after 36 holes and is in 57th place.
