Women's Golf Wraps Up Round 1 in Wilmington
Alabama, currently in first place after one round, is the only team in the 18 team field to shoot under par for the round, posting a three under par for a team total of 285. Duke sits in second place after posting a 295 seven over par round, 10 shots off of first place. The University of South Carolina, Arizona, and the University of North Carolina round out the top five. Virginia, Wake, Clemson, Oklahoma State, and Michigan State are in sixth through 10th respectively.
Clemson played with Arizona and host school UNC Wilmington in Friday's round. Ashlan Ramsey and Sloan Shanahan both shot rounds of 74, putting them in 10th place individually heading into day two. McKenzie Talbert posted a six over par 78. Jessica Hoang shot a nine over par 81, and Lauren Salazar shot a 10 over par 82. Taylor Ramsey, playing as an individual, shot an 83. Currently leading the tournament individually is Stephanie Meadow of Alabama, who shot a two under par 70 to lead her team, who counted rounds of 70, 71, 71, and 73.
The team will tee off at 8:30 AM on Saturday and will play with Wake Forest and Oklahoma State. John Thomas Horton's young squad will look to rebound and finish their fourth consecutive tournament in the top five. Live scoring can be found on golfstat.com.
