ROCKY FACE, GA - Sophomore Cody Proveaux made four birdies on the back nine to lead Clemson to a fourth place standing after two rounds of the Carpet Classic in Rocky Face, GA. The 14-team tournament that features some of the top teams in the nation, will play its final round at The Farm on Sunday.

Clemson shot a 285 as a team on Saturday, the second best team round in the field. Only Georgia, which shot a six under 282, was better. All five Clemson players are within the top 25 in the individual race, the only team in the 14-team field that can make that claim.

Georgia Tech, who shot a tournament best eight under par 280 in the first round, has the team lead at 569 after 36 holes, seven under par. Georgia is second at 573, while North Carolina is third at 578, just one shot ahead of Clemson. LSU and Texas are tied for fifth at 584, five shots behind the Tigers.

Proveaux is the top Tiger after two rounds with a 143 score, one under par and good enough for a tie for seventh place. He had nine straight pars on the front nine, then had four birdies and a double bogey on the back. He made a double on the par five 15th hole.

Clemson's second best golfer on Saturday was sophomore Miller Capps, who has had a one under par 71 thanks to three birdies and two bogeys. He was three under playing the 15th, but did have a pair of bogeys on the last four holes.

Stephen Behr and Carson Young both had even par scores of 72, but both got their in different ways. Behr finished strong by scoring three under par for his last eight holes. Young was under par all day, then finished with three bogeys in his last five holes to finish at even. Behr and Young are both tied for 23rd individually at three over par 147.
