Ramsey Wins Georgia Women's Match Play

BRASELTON, GA - Ashlan Ramsey, who will join the inaugural Clemson women's golf team in the fall, won the 16th annual Georgia Women's Match Play Championship this morning. The tournament was played at The Legends at Chateau Elan in Braselton, GA and was open to any female amateur who is a member of the Georgia State Golf Association member club.

Ramsey started this morning off with a bang, going one up on Ji Eun Baik after the first hole and then proceeded to win holes 5, 6, and 7, making her three up through seven holes. She continued to stay strong and won holes 10, 11, 12, and 13 as well to clinch the match 7 & 5.

Ramsey reached the final round with wins of Kimberly Graff (5 and 4) in the round of 32, Ivy Shepard (8 and 7) in the round of 16, Jackie Rajek (5 and 4) in the quarterfinal round, and Jessica Haigwood (6 and 5) in the semifinal round. In all five matched Ramsey played she clinched her win without needing to play holes 15-18, and only needed to play hole 14 in two of her matches.

Ramsey, a recent graduate of John Milledge Academy in Milledgeville, Georgia will join older sister Taylor in the Clemson women's golf program this fall. Baik, from Newnan, Georgia, will head to the Southeastern Conference and compete for Mississippi State.
