Schmidt pitched 7.0 strong innings to earn the win in Clemson's 6-3 victory over #7 South Carolina at Fluor Field in Greenville, SC on Saturday.  In just his second career start and third career outing, the freshman righthander gave up only five hits and two runs with five strikeouts.  For his efforts, he received the Bob Bradley Award as Clemson's MVP of the three-game series.  On the season, he is 2-0 with a 1.32 ERA and .245 opponents' batting average along with 10 strikeouts against four walks in 13.2 innings pitched over three appearances (two starts).
