In 2015-2016:  Senior who is playing in his 47th career tournament at NCAA National Tournament in Oregon, more than any other active Tiger..has 72.95 career stroke average, 15th best in Clemson history....sixth in Clemson history in total birdies with 409....Clemson’s top golfer in final round of NCAA Regional in Stillwater...his 70 that day was the best in the 75 player field....finished ninth in ACC Tournament and 17th at the Regional to finish season strong...has two top 10s and five top 25s....has shot even par or better at ACC Tournament each of his last three years..that includes a three-under score in 2016....finished 21st with identical 216 scores each of his first two years at ACC Tournament, then shot 213 this year...this year Capps has a 73.27 stroke average, fourth on the team...has two top 10s, one at US Collegiate and one at ACC Tournament....his score has been a counter 107 of 128 rounds a .836 percentage....has 11 career top 10s, tied for first among active Tigers with Stephen Behr...his 131 career rounds are more than any other active Tiger...his 41 under par rounds are also first...had career best 66 at Dick’s Challenge on 9-21-13...ranked No 91 by Golfstat and No. 99 by Golfweek...ranked No 73 in the latest United States Amateur rankings by Golfweek....graduated from Clemson on May 7, he was Dean’s List student his final semester in economics...plans to go to Law School after golf career concludes....reached match play at the US Amateur in 2015, his 142 score in stroke play tied for 36th...first-team Academic All-ACC as a freshman…had very strong summer of 2013, he finished second at Carolinas Amateur and third at Cardinal Amateur...in 19 competitive rounds posted in the summer of 2013, shot 72 or better in 17 of them, and had just one round over 74… comes to Clemson from Denver, NC, but he was born in nearby Seneca and grew up a Clemson fan…both of his parents went to Clemson…used to play golf with his dad at Clemson's Walker Course while football games were going on....finished second in the state 3A South Carolina Championship in the ninth grade, then moved with his family to North Carolina.

Summer 2015:  One of the few golfers to compete in the British Amateur and the US Amateur in summer of 2015…started the summer by competing in the British Amateur….got off to a great start with a 67, but had an 83 in second round of qualifying and did not advance to match play…returned to the US and shot three-under-par 285 at Carolinas Amateur to finished 39th…won his US Amateur qualifier in July with a 12-under-par 132, he had rounds of 70-62…the 62 was his low round in a competition…finished second at the Cardinal Amateur in Greensboro with a one-under-par 209 total…made a great charge on the last day with a 65…finished 36th in stroke play qualifier at the US Amateur after rounds of 70-72 at Olympia Fields in Chicago…first active Clemson golfer to reach match play of US Amateur since Corbin Mills in 2011…lost in first round of match play to Austin James of Canada  4& 3…

In 2014-15:   Ranked second on the team behind Billy Kennerly in stroke average with a 71.93 figure…led the team in under-par rounds with 18 and in rounds at par or better with 22…his 22 rounds at par or better were the most by a Clemson golfer since Kyle Stanley had 22 in 2007-08…had the best score of the round among Tigers 15 times, more than any other Tiger…his score counted in 36 of 40 rounds and he shot 75 or better in 34 of 40 rounds…did not miss a tournament or a round all year…second on the team in birdies with 134…his drive reached the fairway 80 percent of the  time, second on the team and he hit greens in regulation 70 percent of the time, also second on the team…averaged 30.10 putts per round, third best on the team…had  eight rounds in the 60s, second on the team and had four top 10 finishes, also second on the team…started the year with a top 10 finish, he shot a 212 at the Carpet Classic…had a pair of 69s to start the tournament and the year, he finished 10th…had solid 16th place finish at Dick’s Challenge with a 217 score…shot even at Primland Collegiate with 216 score and finished 30th…finished the fall with a ninth placed at Hummingbird and 17th at Ka’anapali Classic in Hawaii…has always played well in Puerto Rico and continued that with seventh place to open the spring season…had rounds of 69-70-73 for a 212 score, four under par…finished 15th at the Palmetto with a 208 score…that included a second-round 67, his best round of the year…finished 12th at the Linger Longer, Clemson’s best score by six shots…ninth at the ACC Tournament with a 211 score, five under par…had consistent rounds of 69-71-71 at the Old North State Club…finished 32nd at NCAA Regional…had a clutch 69 in the final round, the Tigers best round of the day…Clemson’s second best golfer at the NCAA National with a229 score at the Concession Golf Club.

Summer 2014: Had a busy summer, he played in six events…highlight was finishing in elite eight of the North Carolina Amateur Match Play…shot -5 in the qualifier to finish ninth, then won pair of matches before losing to Cyrus Stewart of Raleigh…started the summer with a top 25 (24th) at the Palmetto Amateur, his tournament included a third round 66 that was his best round of the summer…finished 32nd at North-South Amateur qualifier at Pinehurst…also finished 27th at Carolinas Amateur.

 In 2013-14:  Had best single tournament performance as a Tiger with co-medalist honors at Puerto Rico Classic…shot 12-under-par 204 after rounds of 70-67-67…co-medalist with Robby Shelton of Alabama…beat five of the top 10 players in the nation in that event according to the final Sagarin ratings…that 204 score was tied for the eighth best 54-hole score in Clemson history and the best by a Clemson golfer on a par 72 course since D.J. Trahan had a 201 score at Augusta State Invitational in April of 2003… best on any course since Corbin Mills had a 201 on par 71 course at 2011 Jerry Pate Invitational…Capps became the first Clemson golfer with consecutive rounds of 67 in the same tournament since John Engler and Lucas Glover did it in the fall of 2000 at the Jerry Pate Invitational….he was the first to shoot five-under-par for consecutive rounds in the same tournament since Charles Warren did it in the middle two rounds of the 1998 NCAA Tournament at New Mexico….Capps trailed by six shots entering the final round, but started his day strong with an eagle on his fourth hole, the par five eighth hole….he was five-under-par for his first 12 holes and played even par the rest of the round. ..also had a top five finish in the fall at Dick’s Challenge in Nashville where he shot a 210 for his 54 holes, three under par…had career best 66 in the second round of that event…was off to good start with 71 in first round at Augusta Invitational, but got sick and had to withdraw from the final two rounds…had opening round 69 at ACC Tournament…had four of the top eight rounds on the team in 2013-14…had Clemson’s best score of the day 10 times, tied for the most on the team…second on the team in birdies with 94…led the team in rounds at par or better with 13…he and Stephen Behr were the only Tigers to play in every tournament…among Clemson’s top three golfers in each of the first five events, he was Clemson’s best golfer in the fall at +12 for 15 rounds…Clemson’s best golfer in two tournaments, Dick’s Challenge and Puerto Rico…had 73.10 stroke average in the final round, second best on the team.

Summer 2013: Had strong summer…finished 12th at North Carolina Amateur in June with a two-under-par 282…very consistent tournament with rounds of 70-70-71-71…followed that with sixth-place finish at Rice Planters the next week…had seven-under 209 thanks to rounds of 71-69-69, and finished sixth…had top finish of the summer at the Carolinas Amateur with a second-place thanks to 289 total, one-over-par…lost by just a stroke after opening round 77…had best performance of anyone over the last three rounds, going 71-70-71…finished third at the Cardinal Amateur in Greensboro with 212 score, two-over-par…again consistent with 70-72-70…finished summer with 38th place finish at the Canadian Amateur with a 290 score…had rounds of 72-72-74-72…first active Clemson golfer to play in the Canadian Amateur.

2012-13:   One of three Tigers to play in 11 tournaments…finished tied for second on team in stroke average with 73.72…had 73.5 average in the spring after 74.08 in the fall…tied for team lead in top 10 finishes with three…tied for second in rounds in the 60s with four…had season best 67 at the Wolfpack Spring Classic on March 20, 2013…had his best tournament in terms of total score at Jerry Pate with a 210 total…so had his best individual round and best tournament at two-day events…had 90 birdies for the year, second best on the team…score counted in 23 of 29 rounds in team tournaments…had best score of the day six times and was Clemson’s best golfer at two tournaments (Jerry Pate and Wolfpack Spring Classic)…had 3.27 average on par threes, 4.17 on par fours and 4.87 average on par fives…scored 75 or better in 22 of 32 rounds…had 2,359 strokes for 32 rounds, the exact same totals as classmate Cody Proveaux… played in all four Clemson fall events and scored  75 or better in nine of the 12 rounds…had a 68 at the Jerry Pate Invitational that was the second best score by a Tiger in the fall…Capps finished third at the Jerry Pate, one of the top national tournaments of the fall and that third-place finish was the best by a Clemson golfer in the fall…had rounds of 72-68-70 for his even par tournament…second best Clemson golfer at the US Collegiate with a 223 score, he had consistent rounds of 74-75-74…for the fall his score counted in 10 of 12 rounds…played as an individual at the Charleston Shootout March 4-5 and finished 13th…had 17th place finish at the Hootie March 25-26, then had same finish at Augusta State with a 218 score…finished third at Wolfpack Spring Classic to tie for his best finish of the year…shot even par over 54 holes at ACC Tournament, including second round 69.

Summer 2012: Reached the quarterfinals of the North Carolina Match Play…reached the match play by shooting 140 in the stroke play qualifier, third best in the field…finished 11th at the North Carolina Amateur with a 291 score, including 141 for the last two rounds…finished 23rd at the Carolinas Amateur.

In High School:  Ranked as the number-one player in Tar Heel Youth Golf Association coming out of high school….four-time all-state and all-conference team member…played on two state championship teams and  another that finished second…finished fifth at the state 2A Tournament individually as a senior…team also won three conference championships…named the North Carolina Junior Player of the Year for 2011…placed in the top 10 seven times in 2011 in various tournaments…reached match play at US Junior Amateur in Bremerton, WA…finished sixth at the North Carolina 2A Championship as a junior…had a 72.8 stroke average in 2011…ranked 20th in the US in the class of 2012 by the National Junior Golf Scoreboard…made the cut at the North Carolina Amateur and the North Carolina Open in the summer of 2011…made his only hole in one in 2008 on the 17th hole at Lexington Country Club in the South Carolina Junior Tournament…born September 28, 1993 in Seneca, SC…played his high school golf for Mark Lackey at North Lincoln High in Denver, NC…majoring in political science at Clemson.
